Erich Jacobson thinks Thai protest “cock-a-mamy”

This is Erich Jacobson, a “stranded passenger” at Bangkok airport during their protest on 26th November 2008. Mr. Jacobson says: “Tomorrow is a real big Holiday in the states, and many people will miss it because of some cock-a-mamy little protest that you’ve got going”

So it seems that democracy, freedom and politiccal issues aren’t important when pin head Jacobson gets hungry. An excellent example of someone TALKING BOLLOCKS!

Mr. Jacobson little experiment in adventure travel has failed and he should go to Disney World again next year.

I think Jacoboson is right. No civilised country in the world would put up with this shit at thier main airport….they would have sent Riot police in 5 days ago…and evicted you arsoles….You are lucky Thai people are so friendly…My wife is Thai…and she is coming to visit me on the 11 Dec….I hope you are gone by then Now stop this nonsence and let the Thai economy start again

I don’t understand the last comment at all.
The guy implies that Thailand is not a civilised country because it allows this demonstration. He also seems to think that this blog entry was written by Thai protestors who are “arseholes”.

The way I look at this protest is that thousands of Thai people are protesting and it is their country. For an outsider to condemn their dispute in such an insulting way merely because he might miss a holiday shows ignorance.

If there were thousands of Americans protesting and closing one of their airports I don’t think it would be right to call American uncivilised or their protest cock-a-mammy.

I am not implying that Thailand is uncivilised…. what I mean is that this situation would not survive in most countries in the world…cos police would intervene quick…. you cannot let a few demomostrators to stagnate a thriving economy…and most countries in the world will not allow this to happen… you are lucky people cos there is no confrontation yet……but I need to see my wife on 11 Dec… and she flies to me then

Obviously I understand that you want to see your wife. You are thinking of yourself. The American in the video wanted to see his family. He’s thinking of himself.

So let the protesters think of themselves. It’s their country. The Thai people strike me as incredible in the way they ensure hardship yet remain polite and good spirited so they must be really wound up about something.

I don’t even say that the PAD are in the right. Just that if any comparatively rich foreigners had been in England during the General Strike or in The U.S. during an anti-Vietnam protest and then declared the protest to be cock-a-mamy merely because they suffered some inconvenience I don’t think they would have got much sympathy.

There was another bit on the news with a middle class British family who had moved into a hotel. Sitting in their air conditioned room the wife declared the protesters “immature”. I can’t find this video.

I think some things are more important that convenience, especially when you are a guest in someone else’s country.
